About

Hail and well met!

Being a dungeon master is hard. It’s fun, don’t get me wrong. When everything clicks, you feel like the conductor of a train hurtling along a track being miraculously laid one rail at a time. But preparing adventures can take a while. And you have to balance your designs against the players’ decisions and the chaotic tyranny of the dice.

After scouring the internet for advice – I can’t hope to repay the debt I owe to Sly Flourish – I decided to start my own site to share my own experiences for those looking for inspiration in their own adventures. I cut my teeth playing 5e, but have also run 13th Age, Blades in the Dark, Monster of the Week, Cypher System and Forbidden Lands.

I’ll likely talk about board games too, since I have a collection north of 50. If there’s another topic you’d like me to write about, feel free to contact me.

Cheers,

Jonathan
